Ingredients:


Mutton - 500 gms

Onion - 1 large chopped

Tomato - 1 medium chopped

Chilli Powder + Coriander Powder - 3 tbsp

Turmeric Powder - ½ tsp

Coriander Powder - 1 tbsp

Salt - To taste

Oil - 3 tbsp

Coconut paste - 2 tbsp (Grind desiccated coconut with little water)


To grind:

15 cloves garlic

1 inch ginger piece

2 cardamom

Pepper - 2 tsp

Water - To grind the above ingredients to a paste.


To temper:

Fennel, cloves, cinnamon, star anise, Marati moggu

Instructions.


1. Grind the ingredients under ‘To Grind’ to a fine paste


2. Heat oil in a pressure cooker and add items under the ‘To Temper’ table

3. Add onions and saute till soft.

4. Add the ground paste and saute for a minute.

5. Add chopped tomatoes and cook for one more minute

6. Add the salt, chilli powder, coriander powder and turmeric powder.

7. Mix well and cook till the raw smell goes off.

8. In the meantime, clean mutton till the water used for cleaning becomes clear.

9. Add the cleaned mutton to the pressure cooker and mix well.

10. Add 1 ½ cups of water and pressure cook for 1 whistle on high flame, and 15 minutes on low flame.

11. Turn off the stove. Open the pressure cooker after the pressure subsides.

12. Add the coconut paste to the pressure cooker.

13. Cook on low flame for 5 minutes. Garnish with Coriander leave and serve with hot idly’s, dosa, chapathi or poori.
