I am crazy on North Indian food and one item which is my all time favourite is Chenna masala. I tried a different variants of Chenna masala using all the store bought masalas. However this recipe tickled my palate a lot and made me want for more.


Ingredients:


Oil - 6-7 tbsp

Black Channa + White Channa Soaked for 8 hours and Boiled - 1 1/2 cups

Onion Medium - 3

Tomato - 1/2 medium

Chilli powder - 1/2 tbsp (adjust)

Coriander powder - 1 tbsp

Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp

Garam masala - 2 tsp

Cumin powder - 1 tsp

Salt - as per taste


To grind

Tomato Medium - 1 1/2 medium

Ginger - 1/2 inch

Garlic - 10 cloves

Cardomom - 1

Pepper 1 tsp


Method:


1. Make a paste of the ingredients under to grind and keep it aside



2. To a pressure cooker add oil, once the oil is hot add in the onions and cook till soft.


3. Once onion is cooked, add the paste, 1/2 tomato and cook for 2-3 mins.



4. Add all the spice powders and saute for 1 minute.



5. Add Boiled Chenna, 1/4 cup water and pressure cook for 1 whistle.



6. Garnish with Coriander(Optional) and serve
